Day thirty two of van life, October 30, 2025
Day thirty two of van life, October 30, 2025.
Janet's reliveEnsconed at our campground for the night. It is a strange and bizarre place. Walking the Gulf of Mexico Beach, my feet are wet, but feel like funcky water. Mosquitos are epic and the effing raccoons tried to break into our van till I started it and shined our lights. About six of the little fuck cakes. Like I said, mosquitos are prevalent and hungry. They are now well fed.
We plan tomorrow out and hope to drive about an hour and half thru to port Bolivar to catch the ferry to Galveston. We shall see.
But back to today up early we head into New Orleans to find parking and coffee. The ride is cool, but I pucker up driving over the super tall bridges going like 75mph. A combo that can make anyone nervous. Then we arrived into the French quarter for coffee and pasties. We find parking and walk to cafe du monde for pastries and a hot chocolate, I get a hickory coffee as well to go, all superb. The walk around is super eclectic, unusual and well I guess only a new Orleans person can really love
We really enjoyed walking about and visiting stores. We stop off at Johnny's po-boys for a fried crab sandwich and bread pudding, super ono luscious. Off we go with time ticking on our parking of Ka'a Nui, we head to the Mississippi to watch a steam boat take off from the pier.
We leave norleans fatter and poorer than when we arrived, but happy.
As mentioned we make our way over the Pontchartrain, the longest bridge I've ever been on. We take a sharp left at its banks and heat to mosquito campground of the evil raccoon 🦝 people. The drive is nice and long and I pull into a gas station to wash my, uhm hands. Getting back on we have a detour, go back ten spaces the road master says. So we drive back ten miles to turn around and back onto the route. Garmin ex66 proves to be useless and will be returned.
We learn about industry as we pass at least a hundred full size buses of workers doing a shift change. We drive through where gas is converted into something else and lpg ports.
Eventually we arrived at Sea Rim park for the night. Stay tuned for the battle for the van.
